Timeline:  Both Randy & Michael had prolific recording careers with groups such as Blood Sweat & Tears, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Simon & Garfunkle, John Lennon, Aerosmith, Frank Sinatra, Frank Zappa, Parliment, Todd Rundgren, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Carly Simon, Dan Fogelberg, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Daltrey, Cameo and many others.

Michael Brecker performed with leading jazz artists in his career including Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, George Benson, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorious, McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, Charles Mingus. Randy performed with Horace Silver, Hubert Laws, Don Sebesky, Patti Austin, Michael Franks,Yusef Lateef, WDR Big Band. Orchestral works composed by Claus Ogerman and Gil Goldstein.

The first group that Randy & Michael formed was Dreams in 1969. The band performed original rock, funk soul music with a strong jazz influence and featured Barry Rogers- trombone, Billy Cobham- drums, Jeff Kent- keyboards, Doug Lubahn-bass, Michael Brecker- saxophone and Randy Brecker- trumpet & flugelhorn..

The Brecker Brothers Band was formed in the early 1970's. Randy Brecker added his brother Michael to secure the bands first record deal, Randy and Michael performed sensationally together recording eight albums and collaborating on a huge repertoire of music until Michael Brecker left the music world, after a heroic battle with Leukemia in 2007. 

Steps Ahead was formed in 1979 by vibraphonist & composer Mike Mainieri to perform at the Brecker's club "Seventh Avenue South" located in the West Village of NYC. The orginal lineup was Mike Mainieri-vibes Michael Brecker-tenor saxophone, Steve Gadd-drums, Don Grolnick-piano, Eddie Gomez-bass, and Kazumi Watanabe-guitar.

Steps Ahead led by Mike Mainieri and The Brecker Brothers Tribute under the leadership of Randy Brecker continue to perform worldwide.
